Dear all - I benefitted greatly from reading posts about children making annoying sounds. It made me know I was not alone. Our son, adopted from Russia at 17 mos., is now in 4th grade, public school. Doing ok, but has difficulty focusing. VERY manic at home, esp around homework and sister. Lots of sounds, Indian noises, etc. We don't have TV on, we keep lights low, often quiet music. But still the high anxiety and sounds. We are in the process of filling out pediatrician required forms for ADHD (we fill them out and 2 of our son's teachers). But his art, music and PE teachers all gave him an A last quarter. His homeroom teacher did score him highly however for focusing issues, staying in seat, etc. Very ambivalent about giving him meds for ADHD. Thought I'd be the last person to do that. He seems to check off on some of the sensory stuff: loves to chew on ice and loves his arms to be squeezed, loves super soft blankets and playing in water, etc. Would love to hear from folks.

Be very careful of adhd medications. My Son is almost 8 & barely weighs 41 lbs.
