Or a BRAAI i would love a proper braai! That would be kiff :-) its funny when i speak to people here in switzerland about a baakie they have no clue what i am talking about:) I mean the english speaking ones. Also Naartjie is one of those words.

I am living in Switzerland atm..i was born in Cape Town but grew up in the Wilderness..Garden Route! Love fishing:-) have you been to Knysna or Wilderness befor?Have a house there,my dad is there atm and my sister is going for a month now,wish i could go to. Missing the Spur,Biltong and most of all Creme Soda! Cant get it here! She will have to bring me my goodies from Pick'nPay and Clicks lol i feel home sick now. Pls drink a castle or creme soda for me :-) i will eat some chocolate for you!

Maxine, I think that's true about all countries or regions. Although I've noticed a lot of overlap lately...the internet is making the world smaller in that regard, I think...

Gena has it spot on Shawnn - it does mean "being a bit stupid" .... We also say kiff if we think something is nice .... not sure why - south Africans just have quite a few slang words which we all understand here in SA :)

You learn something every day! In the US, we'd call it 'clueless', as in "I'm clueless about technology"

No its definatly not thank you :) It means abit dumb,or how would you say Maxine? Abit dumb..or for example if somebody does something wrong you can ask "are you doff" or if you dont understand something for example computer, i could say Sorry i am doff when it comes to computers. Hope it makes sense :)
