Do you have a favourite child?

I ask this because I have two sons aged 22 and 20. I always thought I loved them equally up until about 5 months ago when my husband moved abroad due to work commitments.
During this time I shamefully felt less love for my older son and grew more for my younger.
About a month ago I couldn't deny it any more, since I clearly loved my younger son more. My older son has always been rather introverted whereas his brother is very confident and muscular.
I've noticed that I'm a lot more short-tempered with my older son compared to his brother, to the point I get annoyed when he is simply around. With my younger son I simply love his company!
I feel awful because he has done nothing wrong but I feel such a horrible mother. Even my sister has asked me what is going on because she too has noticed how distant I am now with my older son.

What could be going on? Yes, I need help but I am unsure what to do! Is anyone else in a similar position? x

I have two children (adult children) with very different personalities so I RELATE to them differently but I love them both equally. they know I would give my life for them.
love is not what you think it is.

Is this really about loving one MORE than the other, or loving them in different ways? I love my children equally, but in different ways simply because they are totally different people.

I think that a person can connect easier sometimes with one child over another, simply because of personality types. But to love one more than the other or treat them so obviously different? I am not so sure about that. I would suggest counselling as well.

Perhaps counseling?

I have two boys, equally important to me. There is no way on earth that I could or would ever love one more than the other, or favour one over the other.

Your eldest will sense this, and it will drive him further away. I hope you can find a solution.
