Do you have your child do chores?

My son will be 3 on June 1st and I have him do chores. I have him clean up his room, like pick up his toys and put them in toy box and put his shoes up in the closet. He dresses and undresses himself every morning and evening. He puts his dirty clothes in the hamper. When we sit down to eat dinner he wants to help set the table. When we are done eating I make him clean up after himself by throwing away his trash and putting his dishes in the sink. Am I being strict? Ladies if you have your child do chores then what are they and how old were they when they started them?

I do not call it chores as its not it is a part of the house hold daily actives. It takes the whole family to keep a house. My kids have been helping with the house as soon as they could, so no you are not to strict.

You are doing it just right. If you dress him then you send the message you don't think he is smart enough to dress himself. If you pick up his toys you teach him that is your job not his and when he leaves a mess all over the house as a teen you will be so angry that he thinks you are his maid. When he helps to set the table he understands the family needs his contribution, same with clean up. Can't tell you how many teens I know that don't have a clue how to clean up a kitchen or set a table.
You will have a teen that picks up after himself, doesn't view other family members are his personal servents, and contributes to the family.
