Depends on the age. My husband gets his waters that have a bit of flavor and is fizzy, has no caffeine or anything bad in it and occasionally the kids have a sip. They are 3 and 7. No they will not be allowed to have caffeine. They are allowed on very special occasions to have clear soda though. VERY rare.

My 8 year old didn't get pop until she was almost 5 and that only happened because we were at a fair and there was literally nothing else for her to drink. It was orange crush with no caffeine. She is now 8 and is only allowed pop a few times per year and never any with caffeine. Fortunately, she's not a huge fan of the bubbles, so she doesn't pester me for it more often than that. Her juice was always watered down until she was about 4 as well. Water is usually the drink she will ask for first and it's been that way for several years.

Soda is rare here, but it happens. My youngest is 5 though... and just recently started to like it a little bit. He never drank it under 5.

My son occasionally drinks soda. When he's with me it's only when we go out to eat since I don't drink it, it's not in the house. I would say maybe once or twice a month he gets a small one.
