I only use months on here! I tell people my daughter is 1 (even though technically she is 18 months) but I'm 240 months old! Sounds old right? not really, I don't count 20 as very old. But we don't go around saying that shes how ever many months old. I stopped counting months when she got to 1 year, but some count all the way up to 3 or 4 with months.
I have people tell me that Ruby isn't 1, she s # of months old. No, shes 1! It means the same thing! Don't let it get to you.

Oh that would get on my nerves! She must feel as if people need to know exactly how old her daughter is. My oldest son is 172 months It sounds so silly! And yes...I used a calculator. I think it's sufficient to use months for the first 18-24 months. After that, "almost 3" or "just turned 3" should be fine.

I usually refer to their ages in months until they are 2 years old. Then it is just 2.5, 3, 3.5, etc.

I tend to use months with the people we see the most because she is 26 months, and she is a little delayed in some areas so that kind of shows the gap between her age and where she is. People that do not know us I just say 2 year old. I think after 3 is a little much.

I judge the audience. If I'm talking to people who don't have kids or have very different ages than mine, I'll just say "He's two". If our kids are practically the same age, then I say "He turned 2 in December" or I'll say the number of months (I'm not great at math on the fly and it keeps changing, so I estimate.) Sometimes people are interested in EXACTLY how old he is, and other times not so much.

Up until 2 years I would use it sometimes. MOST of the time I would say a year and a half or close to two, but sometimes I would use months. There is a huge developmental difference between a 12 month old and a 23 month old, but they're both one year olds. ;)

Past 2 years (and zero months lol), never. I would use just turned 2, 2.25, 2.5, etc... though.

I stopped at about 18 months than I started saying almost 2. If someone used it beyond two I would just say something like " wow I'm bad at math what's that work out to in years". I agree it's annoying when people do that.
