Does a man still have to pay child support if he does not have a job?

My son is going to be 15 months old soon. The potential father wants to get a non-court-ordered DNA test so he can know if he is the father or not. He is afraid I will turn everything legal, so he threatened that if I do, I will not get any money from him for child support because he does not have a job.

Is this true?

I live in Georgia, if this helps any specifics.

He does not receive any of that. He has no income whatsoever. But maybe the taxes he is receiving from his last job. He lives with his girlfriend, she pays for everything. Pays for their living expenses. She is the one who wants to pay for the dna test. He thinks because he has no job, that he doesn't have to do anything.

I have heard that they will sometimes work with fathers to help them find work, then they start deducting money immediately.

I'm not sure what your local laws are. But they generally base it on his income. Income can include disability, social assistance, or any government issued income.

It won't be much, but something. How does he support himself?
