Does anyone actually try to find answers on line or do you just ask COM?

When I have a question I look it up on the web before I post to COM.I do this so I can get as much advice and info I can before making up my mind on which advice I take.I mean I trust a lot of mothers on here to give me the best advice they can and a lot of times I really listen to what they have to say but is there ever a time that you feel like actually doing your own research before asking COM?

Honest answers please.

spd is sensory processing disorder and low tone is also hypotonia is a state of low muscle tone (the amount of tension or resistance to movement in a muscle), often involving reduced muscle strength

The problem with the net is that you can find stuff to support so many things that are just wrong!!
I again always go to my doc about medical advice, but then might come on here and post a question about other mums experiences with the illness, surgery etc.
For parenting advice I'll come on here because my parents weren't the greatest parents and most of my friends don't have children. I always supplement any advice I think i might follow with information I've found on my own.

I research first , then might come for help interpreting that research, get opinions, or look for others with personal experience who might have a creative way of dealing/ coping with something.

I have seen many posts written by people who clearly have not loaded up a search engine to independantly seek the answers they are looking for from legitimate sources and come to COM looking for others to look into it, give legal advice, medical advice, diagnose medical issues, nad take their word as gospel.

I remember getting into a debate well more of an argument tbh with a woman who said she wouldnt have known about legal aid if it were for CoM's and that so many women wouldnt know about so many things if it werent for CoM. I immediatly thought to myself, what on earth would these people do if this site didnt exist ? they would find their info else where.....

anywho, it really bugs me when people obviously cant be bothered to look up facts on their own. Not sure why, but it makes me scream " dont be so helpless !!!" in my head on some days. tbh

I do my own research first. I do like COMs because of the diversity though. I don't get any medical advise on COMs, that's what Chad is for..haha.

Some research from other countries isn't always going to be easily found all over the world. Plus, you get real life perspectives from people who have lived it.

i ask questions if i can't find any decent advice via google. half the info out there is crap and someone from com always recommends a website or something which is worth reading. if it's about medication or pregnancy i just make an appointment with my doctor.

I'm more of a question answerer than a question starter. I usually do my own research. I figure if they ask an easy question that a simple google search will provide an answer for... it makes my job that much easier. ;)

There are certain topics it's nice to get feedback on from the eclectic of moms here on COM.

I agree, Jennifer, there are some things that you really want the opinions of other mums in order to make a decision.

If I'm looking for info on products (diapers, strollers, etc) I like to get opinions from other moms and then do more in depth research on the products they recommend... otherwise I could be at it for days with all the brands, types, and stores that are out there!!
Med advice always goes to my doctor. And parenting/spousal advice I will usually go to close friends and family first

You just go to lmgtfy.com and type in the search - it will then give you a link to copy and paste :D

With the questions and answers I see around here, I don't think anyone Googles anymore :P

[deleted account]

For mediacal advice I ask my doc. I don't even come on here for that kind of thing (especially since the majority of answers I would get anyway would be "go see your doc").

For parenting advice I sometimes come here, but I more often go to my family (even before I go here or the web). If I am going to ask for advice here in CoM I usually look into it as much as I can on other sources before coming on here and asking though...
