Does anyone else feel left out by other parents who are "coupled?"

I'm an older single mom, 52, with 2 grown children and a daughter who is almost 12. My younger daughter and I recently moved to another state. She and I have both met new friends through work and school and the neighborhood. But, I've noticed that no matter where we live, I feel left out of the social plans made by other parents/families. It seems we don't get invited because we are like a "third wheel." I honestly feel like my daughter and I are truly likable people. She is often invited for spend-the-nights, but when it comes to invitations to adult parties or family-oriented events, we are not included. Maybe I'm being over-sensitive, but, I feel left out and lonely. Waah, I'm whining, but this feeling is so real.

Have you tried getting involved with a church group, an interest you like, etc? Maybe something you and your daughter both like to do. I am your age to, and am single. I am in a relationship, but we aren't involved in anything together right now. He does do what he wants, and I do what I want as far as being in any interesting groups. We are though, going to be taking a class together which may help with our social life, some.
