Does anyone else feel like this?

I am mother to 3 precious little boys, and just today while we were out, I had a woman say to me "oh bless your heart, I can't imagine raising all boys" I am always getting comments like that where people say oh, you didn't get a girl? Or they make sure they tell me, I have 2 boys, but then I got my girl. While some people might not find this offensive, it really bothers me. I can't stand when people act like i'm so unfortunate that I only had boys. I would be lying if said, I had not hoped for a girl with at least one of mine, but it just wasn't in the cards for me. Anyways, just wondering if anyone else gets comments about only having the same sex of children? Am I just being overly sensitive?

Oh, my, not really, but people just can't help commenting!

I've got 2 boys (mostly grown now), and I STILL get "So, when are you planning to have your girl"

Sorry, but we figured out what caused pregnancy and got it fixed! LOL Actually, we planned 2 kids, and prayed for boys. Neither hubby nor I wanted a girl, really. Now, we'd have loved, pampered, and spoiled her just the same as we did the boys, had we been blessed with one, but we didn't feel the need to "try" to have a girl, and felt our family was complete with boys. 18 years into parenting, and I STILL don't feel the "need" to have a girl. I don't feel "cheated" that we didn't have one, I don't feel like I've "missed out" on anything...LOL (Except hormones, PMS, and mood swings, which, BTW, boys have too...LOL)

My standard answer to the "bless your heart...I can't imagine..." comment was "Well, I know that kids of either sex are a challenge, so we decided to keep it to one set of challenges", or "Well, bless your heart, I guess it's a good thing you aren't raising them then" (On extremely bitchy days)

Generally, I'd smile, say "well, we figured out what caused it and decided to stop before we got in over our heads"

Just smile and say "They're our little blessings, alright! Thanks for noticing them! "

Well I only have one son as of right now and he is awesome! Boy’s rock in my opinion! Try not to let comments like that get to you. Or come up with a snazzy response for next time that happens.

I too have 2 boys and are very proud of them. People do not realize how they sound. To say this in front of children is unbeliveable and they should think before they speak. You are not being overly sensitive. Be proud of your 3 precisious boys and not worry about what strangers think.

Thank you both! I know I should not let it bother me, I just can't stand for people to act like having all boys is a curse. I would have loved a little girl, but God gave me boys, and I couldn't imagine my life without them. Most of the time I just give a polite smile, and let it go, but it gets really hard sometimes. Especially when they say it in front of my children.

Not to mention, they say these things in front of my boys, and my oldest son has even asked me why everyone thinks having 3 boys is so bad! :(
