Does anyone else have a almost 3 year old that doesn't talk much?

I wonder if it is normal for my son that is going to be three in April to not say a lot yet? I know some of it is that all he hs is us and other family members watch him (aka. Grandparents.) we know that he can understand things and do them but just doesn't speak a lot. Is this normal for boys? Once he goes to pre-school will it make him talk more being around more kids? I know that also every kid is different too.

I have two boys. My first started talking at what seemed early to me (around 9 months) and was talking in small sentences by 18 months. My second son, didn't say much and then he turned two and that's when he was always talking.

By 3 for sure I would imagine he should be talking in sentences. Has the doctor said anything about it? Does he/she seemed concerned at all? If not than I wouldn't worry about it. Preschool may help because he won't have family there and will be forced to be vocal.
