I have a five year son who is developmentally delayed and has a chromosome deletion. He is super hyper and it has been suggested that I put him on medicine. I really am not wanting to do this. He has started OT which is helping some but he has no focus. I dont want to put him on medicine because he is unable to let me know if he is feeling side effects. Does anyone have suggestions or advice? He has come so far in his young life. He came to us when he was 9 months and was like a newborn. We were told he would never even walk...well, he went straight to running when he was about 2 1/2. He does have a speech issue also. Communication is difficult sometimes. I want him to achieve all he can and dont want to harm him by just medicating him.
