Does anyone have any information on a child with cerebral palsy and epilepsy , not sleeping well at nights? my 12 year old is on sleep a sleep aid and melatonine and still wakes up several times a night and alot of nights is only sleeping 4 hours

Those are ok meds to be on but there are others that don't cause as many side effects like Depakote or Nuerontin. They are both seizure meds too.

He is on 3 mg of melatonin and a over the counter sleep aid as well , he used to be on clonadine , but we took him off bc he was too moody and sad and he is usually very happy , but my delema is he is on 2 meds also for seizures , Dilantin and clonazepam

Is he on the right dose of Melatonin? They may have to prescribe something stronger like a benzodiazapine. Usually Klonopin. I have heard of a lot of autistic children being on this for sleep. It is a class 2 controlled substance though. I would talk to your doctor about it. Four hours of sleep is definitely not enough.
