My husband's job is transferring us to Wilmington NC. I read online that Wilmington has a very high violent crime rate. What are the good, safe areas to live in? And what are the bad areas to stay away from? Any surrounding suburbs or towns are ok if they are within a 30 minute drive. My husband will be working nights so I will be home alone with our baby girl. I contacted a couple of Wilmington real estate agents, but they assure me that there are no bad areas in Wilmington and that the city is very safe. Ya right. We live in California, so we wont be able to visit Wilmington before moving.

Hi Allison,
Thanks for your reply! I read online that Ogden was nice and I'm glad you could confirm that. And thanks for recommending Harrison Peebles, I will definitely check out his website. The two realtors I talked to were not very helpful.
My husband's job will be transferring him next summer, and I know that's a ways off, but now that I know its going to happen I want to learn everything I can about the area. Especially how much homes are going for in good neighborhoods, so we know how much to save up for a down payment.
Thanks again! Amelia

Hi Amelia!
I moved to Wilmington 3 weeks ago after vacationing there for the last few years. We moved to the Ogden area of Wilmington and I absolutely LIVE, LOVE, LOVE the area! You have every store imaginable within 5 minutes and downtown and the riverfront is about 20 minutes away. Depending on the price your willing to pay for a house Porters Neck is also a very nice area.
I also used Harrison Peebles as a realtor and I think he's great! I would highly recommend him!
