I have experience witth both bottle fed babies and breast fed babies. I am a mom with five kids my oldest one was a bottle fed baby however the others were breast fed. Unfortunately I could not breast feed my oldest one.
There are pro's and con's with both feedings method, however I find more so with bottle feeding.
The weight issue is the least to consider which method to follow. Yes some wil say you lose the weight through brast feeding. Not necessarily true. You body contracts when breast feeding therefore your natural body shape returns quicker over the bottle feeding. But you can still have the weight gain.
You can lose the weight easier with breast fed babies over bottle fed ones too once you start doing your normal excerise or routines again.
Think more of pro's and con's to both read material on these methods and which one is best for you. However you may find that once the baby is born the baby may not do one over the other. Sometimes this occurs. My daughter wanted to breast feed her baby boy tried unsuccessfully because he just was not taking to her well. It turned out there was a reason why he'd not taken to my oldest daughter, Cuz she was drinking milk and later they discovered through a simple blood test on him soon after he was having problems bottle feeding He's allergic to milk products. So really look at all factors too.Dont' focus on which one you lose the weight quicker.
Breast feeding has less ear infections,. allergies, academic success rates higher or above, These are where I would also consider which option is best.
Bottle feeding could end up being something you may end up needing to do and that is okay too. Good Luck

Yes it does. You burn 500 calories per day on breastfeeding alone. I did not change what I ate, nor did I eat more or less. I ate the same way I used to and I loss the 24 punds that I gained during my pregnancy plus and additional 15 pounds within the two monts after I gave birth to my son. It was a nice added bonus to the other benefits of breastfeeding.

no, not for everyone, i breastfed for, 6 months with my 1st and 10 for my 2nd and 3rd and i gained wieght during that time. i ate the foods i was suposed to be eating and doing everything i was suposed to be doing. breastfeeding should only be done for as long as you are comfortable with it and for as long as your baby wants to do it. my 3 girls all self weened early and many people tried to make me feel like i was a bad person and a bad mother for not forcing it on them till they were older. do what is right for you and if you don't lose weight while breastfeeding you can always try dieting after your baby has weened, good luck

Yes, I do believe that it helps you lose weight. I gained 65lbs during my pregnancy, and I chose to breast feed. My daughter is 4 months old and I have lost all 65lbs and then some. I am so glad I chose to breast feed, I am happy to have my body back :)
