Does bullying start in the 'home'?

In many cases yes it does but not all. and I don't think it directly comes from spanking a child. (and I am very anti spanking) I think it comes from various types of abuse, either directly or indirectly (ie dad hits mom, mom hits dad, older sibling abusing the parent(s) drug abuse in the home) Can cause a person to bully. It can also be from being or feeling neglected, and I don't necessarily mean mom or dad left, it can be mom and/or dad work all the time doing the best for their family they can and leaving the child alone alot so they are left to raise themself.
I honestly to the bottom of my heart a bully does it because they feel so low and insecure that being a bully is the only way they feel they have any power in their life. They come across as if they have this high self esteem and they know what they want and all of that but if you really get to know them and to the bottom of it they don't. And/or they are doing what was done to them so they honestly believe its normal behavior. And they think/feel that hitting is the way of showing you love/care for someone. But that is more abusers vs average bully.

Yep I think so because when u hit a child or allow ur kids hit each other while playing the tend to have that sence of fighting and hitting each other and the smaller one will be the one bullied So I strongly belive that as a parent u have the responsiblity of making ur kids play safe and treat each other with respect

I'm going to have to say at least 7.5 times out of 10 yes. I spent half my life being bullied and I know where they came from. After I grew up and learned all that, I stopped resenting them.
Of course that should never be used as a way to excuse the behaviour, it is intolerable. But sadly, many bullies have a lot of underlying issues that stem from home life and they don't know all that there are resources availiable to help them. And of course there are those who are just plain raised to believe it's ok.
