Does child support arrears get voided

I live in Manitoba with my 16 yr old son, who's father wants nothing to do with him when I've given him hundreds of opportunities. He is in major arrears of child support. I have him on Maintenance Enforcement but he has moved to Saskatchewan with another single mom and left his own 3 children behind. He has two other young boys with someone else and abandon them too. My question is, once my son turns 18, and doesn't continue schooling, does my Ex still owe me/us the child support? Or does it get voided? We don't know where he works, we think he's working under the table. He's one of many deadbeats out there!

Thanks for your response. I had asked maintenance to see when that point for jail takes place. They told me its a costly and long process. They have everything else slapped on him. He cannot cross the US border, he cannot renew his drivers licence and and EI or any type of income will be garnished. They even emptied one of his bank accounts, which was my only payment I received and it was $32.00! Lol.

My friend's mom knows a man who went to jail a few years ago due to nonpayment of child support... and the 'child' was well over 18 by that time. It just took the state that long to catch up to him. After 18 (or older in college?) he won't owe you any NEW money... but will still owe all the back support.
