Does it make harm for a seven year old boy to be locked in his room for several hours as a punishment? what are the consequences?

Lock him in his room! What crime did he commit? That's how we treat prisoners not children!
What harm dose it do? Well lots and I'm sure this kind of "punishment" dose NO good! And teaches nothing at all!
Try naughty corners, reward charts and positive parenting in place of your solitary confinement.

This is abuse! A child of that age should not be left unattended for longer than 20 minutes. The poor child must have felt very scared and lonely. You as a parent are in full charge of your child and should have a watchful eye on them, locking them away for hours is not responsible parenting. If welfare heres about this they can take your child away for abuse and neglect. At 7 he is just a baby and should not be left any longer than 15-20 in a safe room to play by themselves. Still I would want to check on my child.

Where the fuck are all these crazy posts coming from?!? YES it is harmful. How do you think it would feel to get locked in a room for hours? The consequences to name a few, are emotional abuse, feeling alone, not loved, angry, start acting out, harming one self...I mean the list goes on. Take a fucking parenting class.

Hours? You cannot be serious? Can he access a toilet and food and water during his confinement? IMO it is neglect and will only teach your son that you do not want him around.

Several hours? I think that's excessive and abusive/neglectful in a way. Locking? No way. Sent to his room and expected to stay there for maybe 10-15 minutes, fine.
