I have a 3.5 year old daughter who we are having assessed because of the following.......

2-3 severe tantrums daily at preschool (attends 2.5 hrs) lasting 10-15 mins.

Unable to socialize with peers- have difficulty playing with them and being successful in her interactions...

For example... she likes to line up the toys (the my little ponies) as soon as she gets into preschool everyday... if there are some missing or another child has gotten there first she becomes extremely upset. When she lines them up she is VERY protective of them and does not want any other children to play with them, she would rather play alone. If they do come to play she gets VERY anxious. She has rigid thinking about how to play, its like she has an idea of how it is supposed to go and if the other child doesn't follow the idea she becomes upset.

She has to be with the teacher at all times in order to participate. Has a lot of troubles controlling emotions and a very high frustration level. Sometimes she will resort to aggression, when she gets frustrated with another child she has troubles remembering to use her words, we remind her all of the time but she never asks for help.... Transitions are very difficult. She covers her ears when the baby cries and says it hurts her ears. When she gets hot she will cry to to get her jacket off, she gets hot we we go to public places like the mall. She is a very picky eater and will only wear the same kind out outfit everyday (a dress on top of a t shirt with leggings). I was told that she doesn't pick up on social cues and we are working on that right now. She doesn't seem to show much empathy, but she is only 3 so I am thinking that might be normal.... Otherwise she is a very intelligent, beautiful girl who loves her family and is full of life. She was identified in preschool as requiring special needs, but I don't know any more than that right now..... Just wondering what other parents with children with autism think.....

Well, aside from the aggression, she seems a lot like my daughter, who has PDD-NOS (Autism Spectrum Disorder). So yea, it does sound like Autism.

oh and some more things...she has an amazing memory. She likes to memorize entire songs (from only listening to them a few times) and parts of movies and tv shows. She often likes to act them out, however you have to follow the show exactly or else she gets upset.
