Hey i was just wondering what is the worst parenting advice you ever heard? whether its on vaccines or sleep scheduels anything. I'll start, I think the whole vaccinations causing Autisim is absolutely stupid. i'll tell you why because in high school then again in college learned that Autism is formed before birth its the way the brain is put together chemicals firing/not firing whatever no shot causes it. The other dumbest thing i've heard is no disicpline and people who let thier kids make all thier own choices. all i'm gonna say is your kid is a reflection of you its up to the parent to teach right and wrong by discipline if needed if you choose not to it says alot more about you but does alot more damage to your kid. also your kids are young they will always go for instant gratification until they LEARN that instant is not usually the most gratifying

cut off your babies foreskin - it's better to do it now so they don't "remember".

(sorry, but it had to be said!)

I liked the one where the woman was insisting that the sperm doesn't determine the sex of the baby, the embryo decides by itself at around 20 weeks... She also said that info was in "any medical book" on the subject and we should all go look it up... Wow...

Edited to add: I know that wasn't really stupid advice, but it was a definite WTF moment I've had on this site...

Stupid advice?

- To spank a 9 month old for being "naughty"
- To give a 2 week old rice cereal because they seem *hungry*.
- Not to vaccinate because it is a government conspiracy to kill us off (yes, someone actually DID say that)

That's off the top of my head in the moment. There's probably 10 times as many I've seen....... :\ Just can't recall them all right now. But I've had many WTF???? moments on this site........

The dumbest and scariest advice I have heard was when the mother didn't think it was necessary to cut up grapes because her baby could chew them just fine. And the fact that she was sitting right next to him. That made it okay. sheesh.
