Duplication on chromosome 6

Hi everyone, I'm currently trying to get answers for my (adopted) son ( the only reason I posted that he's adopted is because this is a genetic problem, otherwise I would never use that word, he is my son in everyway). He was diagnosed having a duplication on chromosome 6 and they claimed year ago that it has not been described in anyone else. So we can't get any info, has anyone else had this or heard of it. My son is struggling in school with retaining info to read, he can tell you about every animal in the zoo. Hoping to find someone dealing with this struggle.

Hi some of what you are experiencing sounds like autism but there are many forms of that and a good number of chidren are very high functioning not much different than just erratic behavior. You might also read up on something called opposition defiant disorder... Basically this is where the child goes beyond mere rebellion and flips everything to where they negate whatever you're trying to tell them. It is far far from hopeless and there my be a lot of options you could consider.
