I'm a professional hairdresser for over 10 years. It is safe to color your hair, that is unless you have open wounds on your scalp. It's best to have it done professionally, salons are ventilated better than homes, and stylists are taught color formulations to get you closer to what you would like rather than a box. Hormones effect the chemistry in your hair so un wanted colors and shades are more likely to appear from box colors during pregnancy, and box color is such a mash up of chemicals that going to a stylist to fix it after the damage is done can be quite costly. But to answer your question.... Yes it is safe to color, bleach, cut and perm your hair when you're pregnant just as long as safety guidelines are followed.

I personally didn't dye my hair while I was pregnant, but that was just because I had forgotten what my natural hair colour looked like and I was curious. lol But I've read the same information that Lauren posted from a few different sites, and I've also heard from several hair dressers that dying hair while pregnant is fine.

The limited evidence that's available suggests that it's probably safe to dye your hair during pregnancy. The Organization of Teratology Information Services (OTIS), which provides information on potential reproductive risks, says that animal studies are reassuring and that there are no reports of hair dye causing changes in human pregnancies, despite the fact that many women have colored their hair during pregnancy. OTIS also points out that very little of the chemicals in hair dye is actually absorbed into your system. - babycenter.com
Hope this helps :-)
