Ear Piercing?

I haven't quite decided what to do. I want to pierce her ears so she can look cute for her Christmas photos, but I feel bad mutilating her poor little ears (even though I lived having it done at 3 months myself). I just don't want to see her upset for my own selfish reasons, but it looks so cute! lol. I also am torn because I hear the longer you wait, the more chance there is for infection as they get older and the more it hurts since the cartilage gets tougher. I just don't know. My husband and I are learning towards waiting until she asks to have it done. What are your thoughts?

Have you talked to her pediatrician? You usually have to go through them at such a young age, and they can weigh the pros and cons with you.

I had mine done when I was a baby also- no infections, and my holes never close. I have three boys but if i had a girl, i think i would ask my pedi to do it.

I lean towards waiting. Then again, my oldest is 11 and not done yet... Probably at 12.

Oh she's just about 7 months old, I just had my ears pierced at 3 months. Sorry, that was a bit misleading! Her pedi actually can do it, but we'd have to wait until her next checkup at 9 months. Since she's not getting shots that time, we may have it done then. I dunno.
