How early? How old is your baby?
If they can sit up (with support) and can hold their head and neck up well, if their birth weight has at least doubled, and if they are interested in what you’re eating and may even try to grab food from your plate, then they are probably ready for more than breastmilk or formula.
If you offer a spoon of baby food or wet cereal and they push it all out of their mouth, they may not have the ability to move it to the back of their mouth to swallow it. It’s normal. If they've never had anything thicker than breast milk or formula before, this may take some getting used to. Try thinning the mixture the first few times, or start with a little formula and switch to the baby food. If the baby doesn't want the food, wait a week and try again with a different flavor. Don't give your baby too many different flavors close together.
