My daughter is 2 months old, she is exclusively breastfed. She has only had one bottle of formula and that was last month. Her doctor and I have concluded that she has "silent reflux" and he prescribed 1ml of Zantac twice a day, I gave it to her for a while, but she doesn't seem to need it much these days. My concern is that she is so gassy and it pains her so much that she can not get to sleep, or it wakes her out of her sleep once she has fallen asleep. She is always fussing and tossing and turning due to the discomfort of passing gas and trying to have a bm. I honestly believe that if we could handle her gas issue that she would sleep just fine. I have tried otc gas drops, gripe water, bicycling her legs, massages, I burp her sometimes half way through feeding and always after feeding. She burps more times than not, though it takes a great deal to keep her still long enough to burp her because she is constantly squirming from the discomfort. We have a hard time getting through feedings because it seems like it almost instantly causes her discomfort. I don't know what to do. I'm thinking about offering her formula for a while to see if the problem is my milk. Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions or solutions?
