Missing my kids even though we knew they would spread their wings and fly away, but the house feels so empty and lifeless without them. I wish them the best in everything they do and they know they are always welcome here I guess just being involved with 2 kids 13 months apart we were always busy with their schooling and sports activities now life is just plain boring. My husband and I do get out but we still have fur kids that keep us from going away activities. My son has one more year of grad school in CA, we live in PA and even though it's thousands of miles away I hope he stays out there. My daughter lives only 82 miles away but we only really see her on holidays, she is always working. I know it will probably get easier as time goes on, any ideas from other empty nesters? We are both retired also.

We became snowbirds and do go to Florida for 10 weeks but when we get back it's all work and no kids and my husband gets in a funk and sits in his recliner and just reads which makes me crazy because we have lots of land and outside work to do which is not my choice. said we should do some kind of volunteer work but no that is not the path he wants to take but it is frustrating without the kids here.

Find yourselves some hobbies. Get into craft, painting, sport or something that you have always wanted to try. Now is your time to do what you want and not have to run around after the kids.
Have a look into different clubs in your area and get out and enjoy it.
