I'm still feeling pain from my episiotomy after 6 weeks?? Is this normal? It's better than it was right after my Son was born but I thought I would be pain free after this long. It's almost like a burning stinging pain, how long did it take for everyone else to heal??

The sutures may be irritating you. The doctor may remove them at your visit. If you have a sits bath, use it. That will help irrigate the site, and help with healthy circulation.

Thank you for all of your help!! I will be honest with my Dr. about what I'm feeling. Yes I have looked and didn't see any broken skin or irritation. I did see what kinda looked like a stitch or two so I'm wondering if they are irritating my skin?? I didn't did too deep tho while looking I was kind of afraid of what I look like after child birth :-(

One other thought I have is are you using the hospital pads or store pads or no pad at all? If you are needing a pad still, try to use the kind from the hospital, Kotex brand is the closest. Some other brands have irritating fabric or even fragrance that could bother your sensitive skin.

Well tell the doctor straight up that it's not feeling so good down there. I'd expect he/she will only take a look and not do a pelvic exam if you are really hurting. Can you see anything? I would not normally advise any mother take a peek at her vagina at this time, because it isn't going to look "normal" even if it is healing well. If there is redness, or broken skin, your suture line isn't healing. You may have an infection, retained suture or even an allergy to the suture material.

It isn't constant pain but it is irritating. No we haven't had intercourse yet. I do go for my 6 week check up in a couple days. I'm nervous because it's painful enough I don't want to be examined. I don't think I have a yeast infection because I'm not really itching it's more of a burning/stinging.

You should be healed by 6 weeks. Have you had intercourse? If yes, did that worsen the pain. Does it hurt constantly? Or does it come and go? Can you use a mirror and take a look, you may have an infection in the incision. it is possible you may have developed a yeast infection, but that would likely itch like crazy. Also, if you had sutures that were absorbed by your body, it is possible that a piece may be left that is irritating your perineum. Have you been to your doctor for your post partum check? It would probably be wise to get it looked at.
