My son had tubes put in a few months ago. The day of the surgery he was very tired for most of the day, but back in full swing by the next morning when he got up. His speach improved in leaps and bounds daily... took about a week to really start noticing. He'll need comfort and love... and he'll be just fine!

My daughter had tubes put in, before I could get a cup of coffee in the waiting room the surgery was over. She was a little cranky in recovery. By the time we got home she was fine. For the first time in 6 months I got a solid night sleep, that night. So did she :)

I remember driving home from the hospital with my 3 yr old son after his were put in and he kept complaining about how noisy it was in the car. (I didn't have any music on or anything..) He must have been in total silence before the tubes. My son's really cute way he spoke went away tho. very sad for me but good for him! He used to say Buttula instead of butter. After the tubes, I said, please pass the butula and he yelled at ME saying that I said it wrong!!! HAHA Good luck!

My son had tubes put in and his adenoids taken out about a month ago. He threw up once right after the surgery but was fine after that. He slept most of the afternoon, but was happy when he got up. He did start to run fever two days later, but he was already getting a cold when he had the surgery and his nose was getting pretty yucky so there's no way to know if it was really surgery related or not. They do warn that fever is common after the adenoids, but i don't know about tubes alone.
Don't worry too much. Thay can pick up on that. And they are all different - they'll all recover differently. My son is already pretty laid back, so i thing that helped.

My daughter(now 11) has had 3 sets of tubes & her adenoids taken out. She was right back to herself after the procedure! A little tired, but she bounced right back! She felt a whole lot better right away. HOWEVER you must be sensitive to their hearing right afterwards. My daughter would cry every time I vacuumed, when the toilet flushed, etc. Just be careful for a while about hearing! I also got my daughter SPECIAL earplugs, they molded them from her own ear. I tried all the cotton/Vaseline, wax earplugs, you name it we tried it. We found that the ones that were special made for her ears worked the best. They were around $75.00, but well worth it, as you will find out if they get even a little bit of water in their ears they are in pain!!! Good Luck- he will feel so much better after they are put in!! Take Care
