Ever heard of chiropractors helping with ear infections?

Has anyone ever taken their kids to the chiropractor for ear infections and been successful with it? I'm trying this with my daughter but am alittle sceptical right now. Anyone doing the same thing with their kids and has it worked?

My husband is a Chiropractor and has been adjusting both my girls since birth to help with colic, ear infections, etc... Both of my girls now 5 years old and 22 months have never had ear infections. A lot of it has to do with the fluid in the ear canal that is trapped and therefore leads to infections. As children there tubes do not slant at an angle like adults...they are completely horizontal therefore leading to fluid to get trapped. That is why so many kids have problems with ear infections vs. adults. With a simple adjustment, a chiropractor is able to allow that fluid to drain and stop the ear infections from occuring, or if they already have one it eliminates the infection faster. My husband specializes in pediatric Chiropractic so if you have any more questions, I would be happy to pass them on to him and help you out. You can also check out www.icpa4kids.org to learn more about how Chiropractic can help children with so many issues. Sorry it was so long, but I hope it helps.

There is absolutely no evidence whatsoever that manipulating the first cervical vertebrae has any effect on the ear canal. Ear infections heal themselves on their own in a few days, so the chiropractor is doing nothing but taking your money. There are major risks of manipulating the cervical spine, including stroke and death. PLEASE take these risks seriously before taking your child to a chiropractor, and fully look into the research (or lack thereof).

I had the same problems with my son. He was even on a nebulizer 3 times a day, he was so conjested he started losing his speech, didn't know you were talking to him unless he was looking at you. His ears were always so blocked with fluid. This was when he was 2. He is now 4. We started taking him to a chiropractor and at first his fever spiked, but they said that was all the blocked infection working it's way out. Believe me it WAS!! His nose ran like crazy for about a week. Finally he could breathe again!! They started him on a vitamin from a company Standard Process INC, this was to build his immune system up! We have not had an ear infection since, and have gotten rid of the nebulizer!!!

Yes, yes, and yes!!! My son had nine ear infections over the course of 6 months, and the Dr. was threatening tubes. I finally took him to the chiro and found out that he had a pinched nerve in his neck that was causing them. A few adjustments and hasn't had one since. That was when he was about 10 months old, and now he's 6!

My oldest son, now 25, suffered recurring ear infections as a child. When he was three, we went the surgical route and had tubes inserted in his ears. This did not work for him; his tubes were forced out within 9 months by more ear infections. Several years passed and my son was again referred to an Ears, Nose, and Throat Specialist--who again recommended tubes. With the pediatrician's okay, I postponed surgery for a month in order to try alternative treatments. I took my son to my chiropractor--and had great success. With adjustments and some diet changes, my son never needed the second surgery.
Choose a chiropractor who works well with children. Ask to see written testimonials from previous patients. (That's what first put the idea in my mind.) Good luck!

I am a chiropractic asst. and have with with my chiro for a year now, if I would of known years ago when my first 3 were littlewhat I know now, I would have taken them to a chiro earlier. My youngest who is know 17 months started seeing my chiro at about 10 months of age for ear infections. He had had 2 ear infections prior and he was now on his third one. I took him 2 times a week for 4 weeks the 1 a week for 2 weeks and he has not had an ear infection since. He is now seeing the chiro every few months for a check up. Chiropractic care is great and there is no meds.

I wanted to comment about getting them tested. It's very expensive to go that route if it's not necessary. My son did 3 treatments and he was fine after the first, and did the 2 after that as precautionary...so it doesn't take a long time at all!

I took my daughter at 8 weeks to a chiropractor for gas pains and it cleared them right up. She still goes about once a month to 2xs a month just to keep everything working fine. She hasn't had single cold, ear infection or anything else yet and she will be 9 months old on Friday. I say do it, what can it hurt. It can only help. Just a heads up, after the first adjustment she may be sore, so depending on her age and if she can tell you something hurts, you may want to give her som tylenol after her appointment.

I have to tell you that the chiropractor is the best ever! At least it has helped out in my family. My mom even takes my brother there since he has been a baby. Anytime my bro would get stuffy in the head or eyes start watering, she would take him to get adjusted. That cleared him up within a day. Also for our kids ear infections. It has helped tremendously! I even bring my littlest there for constipation and it helps! I think you are doing the right thing. You might as well just see if it works for you cuz I know that it has worked for my family.

First you should get your kid tested for cow's milk allergy. Sometimes, the symptoms of an allergy to cow's milk is recurring ear infections. Ever since I started my son on goat's milk or sheep's milk yogurt (milk, cheese, yogurt, butter...) he hasn't had an ear infection (in 6 months) but the true test will be this winter. He is not allergic to milk, but the doctor said he might be sensitive enough to it that it causes ear infections so to keep doing what we're doing and see how this winter goes. I have heard of a chiropractor and acupressure working for ear infections but it's a really long process so I decided to try the goat milk route first, not to mention it's a lot cheaper. If you do go to a chiropractor or acupuncturist, please make sure they are certified and have been recommended because there are a lot of bad people out there.

oh yeah! A friend of mine is a chiroprator, and I am not sure exactly what they do, but it does help. Another friend of mine won't even go to the regular doctor anymore for the ear infections!

Hi! My name is Kelly and one of my very dear friends did this with her son. He was having ear infections frequently, and always seemed to be on medication. They were told that he needed tubes in his ears so they opted to try the chiropractor, and it was a success. They only had to go once and he hasn't had an ear infection since and he just turned 6! My best friends dad is also a chiropractor for adults and he told me that it is a very. very common pracctice and why it works is because during birth the baby is twisted and squshed so much that things kind of "get out of whack", all the chiropractor does is "re-align" everything to where it should be and most of the time the ear starts draining like it should right afterwards. I hope that this helps! Good Luck.

I don't have this problem with my son, but I do work at a chiroprators office. There is a lot os research supporting it and is see that others have had good luck with it. Chriopratics is great for EVERYONE!

My husband is a Chiropractor and adjusts kids all the time. It definitely helps with ear infections. Make sure you choose a Chiropractor that is good with kids and patient. You want their experience to be a good one or you will have a hard time getting them to go back.

I have never talking my kids to a chiropractor for ear infection but I have a friend who swears by them.. She takes her children to one from anything to ear infections to constipation problems. I have taken my son to a chiropractor for his allergies. The showed us how to rub areas on his faces to help relieve symptoms. My son did have tubes put in his ears and they helped tremendously he started actually talking after them. So I think the choice is completely yours. Best of luck.

I believe that I could help you with your daughter's ear so that you won't have to spend all of that money at a chiropractor. I'll send you an email

I have taken all three of my children to the chiropractor since they were two weeks old respectively. My oldest is three and 1/2 and he has NEVER had an ear infection. My twins are almost a year and they have not either! I believe that it works! Keep trying it!

Absolutely!!! My children were under Chiropractic care when they were little, when the ear ache would start I would follow the Chiropractors instructions and they would go away.

My husband is a chiropractor and has been adjusting our son since he was born. While he hasn't adjusted him for ear infections (he hasn't had any) I know that there is a lot of research supporting this treatment.
