Children need consistent rules and consequences. Set the rules and stick by them. They will always push boundaries to see how far they can get. It's just a battle of the wills and the adults need to be stronger.
Unless there has been a big upheaval or traumatic event in his life then you will just be wasting money on therapy. He needs PARENTING.

well, kids usually are very well behaved for others, but have conflicts at home. Have you recently instilled a more scheduled day, or more discipline?
He fights to do anything he wants, because more than likely you've given in to him at least once, so he knows that if he argues enough, you may just give in.
Consistency and appropriate discipline are the key. Certainly, you can take him for an evaluation if you feel it is necessary, but have you tried asking him why he acts the way he does?
