my 3 year old behaves like a child who's never had rules or discipline, which is definately not the case! At her worst the tantrums will last more than an hour to the point where she gets hysterical and i just can't get through to her. This happens 2-3 times a week. I've tried absolutely everything and nothing works. Any suggestions?

A paddle... a wooden paddle Cindy? On a THREE year old who is trying to make sense of his world in the only way she can? On ANY child? Never. Don't hit doesn't just mean ADULTS and animals .. it means our defenceless children. I disciplined my children which means to TEACH and didn't hit them. They are now great adults !

This is just normal, age related behaviour!

my girl is three too and she has started doing this as well... I just dont let her get away with it! There is No reason for her to act this way and she needs to learn that to control herself. I do spank sometimes so if she is yelling at me or acting completely ridiculous! a tantrum that lasts more than an hour is unexceptional!!!! and she needs to know that or she will rule you through them!!

Perceiver!!!!! This is normal, she is pushing you to see how far she can push before she gets what she wants. The key is consistency. You could even try a sticker chart for rewards.
