Experiences with Adderal x.r.

I don't know if this will be helpful because I was 40 when I was taking it and I was taking it for depression and racing thoughts. I started taking regular Adderal 3 times a day first but that was too hard to remember and it was hard to get filled, it was a large quantity.
I found the XR much more beneficial. First of all, it was one dose. It provided more consistent relief/results. My racing thoughts settled and I was able to concentrate better. I didn't lose track of what I was saying/thinking/doing as often. The regular release Adderal helped somewhat but because each dose only lasted about 4 hours total, it was kind of like a roller coaster.
I'd take a dose......amping up (some shakiness)......working (continued shakiness)......winding down (confusion, energy drops), next dose......amping back up.......working.......winding down and so on. Frustrating! The XR, doles out the medication evenly, consistently over several hours (7-8) so I didn't have all the ups and downs or the shakiness. It was solid time, much more effective.
I did lose weight but I was also doing Weight Watchers so I'm not sure how much each one was responsible for. But, I did lose more while I was taking the Adderal. When my kids were younger, they were picky and skinny so their pediatrician suggested beefing them up with those protein shakes with all the extra vitamins and minerals in them. Just a suggestion if you find your daughter not gaining the weight you think she should or if she starts to lose it.
Good luck! I hope that the medication helps and your daughter feels better soon. Take care!
