My son, who is going to graduate from HS this year, is very lonely. In addition to having ADHD he has been diagnosed with Asperger's and PDD..very high anxiety. He is very nervous around peers because he fears their goofing around behaviors may lead to bullying him. He is desperate for friends but they need to be mild mannered. How can he find the type of individual?

My nephew goes to a "spectrum" camp every single summer. It is paid for by the school district as part of his IEP. He may not have many school friends but has many many from camp.

have you tried taking him to a group therapy type of situation? I have a very good friend with a son with Aspergers, he is also very anxious in social situations, and has benefited from that sort of thing

He has not been in any group therapy situation. He has been in summer camps with similar type teens,( these have not resulted in any lasting friendships), 1 on 1 counseling, regular school counseling sessions, he also sees a psychiatrist. I have recently spoken to a friend about seeking a group social situation for him, however, I have not considered group therapy. I will definitely pursue this idea. Thank you.
