Hey ladies ... just wondered if any of you are having multiple experiences with conjunctivitis? Our daughter has had several and this time she's on antibiotics and all that seems to be doing is giving her diarrhea. In addition I googled the drops that she screams when I administer and they are prescribed for 3rd world countries??? Anyways I've got her on some natural eye drops now and immune powder stuff ... I've already cut her hair twice and she gets her nails done at least once a week but what am I missing??? Is there something I can do to try and eradicate this from her system? Nothing seems to be working. We even changing her bedding daily!!! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

She's on to about her 6 infection and this time it's developed into a full blown eye infection. Her can barely open her eye and I've taken her to the doctors again yesterday. "Just keep doing what you are doing" is his advice :(

I don't have a lot of experience with pink eye but I've had it before. Pink eye spreads very easily. Poor hand washing is the most common way to spread it. Using a washcloth or towel that has been infected could be the cause as well. I would start by washing everything that has come into contact with you daughter and continue giving her the eye drops. Antibiotics are known to cause diarrhea. Offer a probiotic or yogurt about 1 hour after you give her the antibiotic, which will help ease the diarrhea. Good luck and I hope she feels better soon!

Thanks Sienna but I am no longer breastfeeding :( However the first time our little one got it I tried that and I found it made it worse ... she definitely ended up with it in both eyes, not just the one, by her next sleep.

My son used to get conjunctivitis all the time!! And then I called my grandma and she told me to squirt breast milk in his eye, I did and voila- all better haven't seen any signs since!

Have you ever tried artificial tears? I have heard that eye drops are not necessary for pinkeye, and that artificial tears will help to get rid of it. The only thing is that she will be contagious (if it's caused by a bacteria, not a virus, as a virus WILL NOT respond to antibiotics) until her eyes clear up. Since it keeps recurring, I would be more inclined to think that a virus is causing her infection. I hope you get it cleared up soon!
