Im 26 years old just starting to work at a stable hospital as a nurse. My boyfriend and I found out that I was pregnant and at 7 weeks going into 8 recently, and we figured that we let our parents know. We were planning to tell my parents to get married, but since I got pregnant, we thought we may need to let them know as soon as possible. My dad has always took control of the family in making decisions and somewhat conservative in lifestyle approach. Now my mom/dad/big brother(my boyfriends friend) are telling me to get an abortion. My boyfriend and I don't want to get an abortion and continue with the pregnancy and start a new family on our own, but I wanted to get some advice in resolving the conflict that I have with my family. I know that it is going to take time, but I would like some tips and recommendations.. as a new mom and in conflict resolution.

I would be letting your family know that you have made a decision and since you are an adult it's your choice. Let them know that if they choose to keep in touch they will be more than welcome to see the baby but if they are going to be negative about the new life you have created then you will have to limit the contact with them.
You need to put yourself and the baby first now. It sounds like your boyfriend is supportive as well. Enjoy the baby you have created together and make sure you don't get dragged down with negative people. Hopefully they will come around after they have had time to process the news.

As the mother you should go with your instinct. I'm personally completely against abortion but that's not here or there because ultimately it's your decision. It sounds like your boyfriend and yourself have already made the decision. Tell anyone that doesn't agree that you appreciate their input but..
