My childrens father has been out of their lives for a little over two years now; aside for a brief period of time when he saw them about once a week for a few months after a year of being gone. My son and daughter both express a deep longing and desire for a father, and how they still miss and want their dad. My son is 3 going to be 4 in april and my daughter is 2 going to be 3 in july. They both are so young but seem to remember so much and it concerns me how hurt they seem to be over the situation, especially my son. He's clearly a emotional wreck over the father issue and crys a good bit for him. Ive told them how special and important they are ablnd that feeling sad over their father is ok but that they don't need him. Hes also presenting a strong fear of abandonment. Im just very concerned that he doesnt seem to be recovering and I'm doing all I can do for the both of them. I don't want this to negatively alter them in a permanent way but I'm really starting to feel the damage is dobe and theres nothing more I can do. Does any one have any advice in my situation or tips??? Is there special counseling or therapy they have for kids with severe emotional issues such as these?
