I just read a really good book about feeding children. It's called How to Get Your Child to Eat But Not Too Much by Ellynn Satter. There's a chapter in there about feeding babies. It's very reassuring (eventhough her tone is quite dogmatic). Basically you'll be fine if you follow your baby's lead. If your baby seems satisfied after what you feed him/her, then don't worry. You can feed baby cereal with the veggies if you like but even at 8 months, your baby's main source of nutrition is still breastmilk/formula. So eating is kind of just for fun right now, or to get baby used to different tastes and textures.
