Today I was waiting for this day to finally let my 6 month old daughter eat solids for the first time and she refused to eat it. I gave her banana in the jar. She's a big girl and all she eats is 6 ounces of formula every 3 hours. 🍼

Wait a couple weeks and try again, my 6 month old was the same way. When they are ready they will take it, can't force them. They get all the nutrition they need from BM/ Formula so don't panic if they aren't on solids yet. My guy accepted it around 6 and a half months and now he LOVES food lol

Some babies have no interest in baby food or being fed, but will start to feed themselves finger foods. My son only ate baby food MAYBE a handful of times in his life. He didn't really have much interest in anything other than breast milk til around 9 months and wasn't eating actual food even once a day regularly til closer to a year... but he did devour a burrito at 11 months old. ♥

She is just not ready to start. Wait a month and try again.

I agree with the others. Kids don't automatically start eating solids. It takes patience, time and training. They have to get used to different textures, tastes and smells.

That being said, I do agree with Jodi on the smell/taste of bananas. Try apples, or peaches, or pears.

Would agree with others and also add that just because she did not like it today does not mean she won't like it tomorrow. My youngest takes several times before she likes it. She is now 1 yrs old and this still holds true to table food.

I notice that it's not the food, cause I tried carrots and rice cereal. It's her not wanting to be spoon fed. I'm gonna keep working at it.

I agree with the others - it isn't a necessary thing at this point, and you just keep offering. My daughter really didn't eat solids until she was 8 or 9 months old.

Having said that, banana is a pretty strong smell and flavour. Neither of my kids ate bananas at this age. Try apple or pear instead.

Food is really just for fun and the learning experience of eating and new tastes right now. Formula still has all the nutrients her body NEEDS til around a year. Give it a few days or a week or two and go ahead and try again. She'll eat when she's ready.

Just because she is now able to try out puree foods does not mean she is going to just automatically start eating. All you can do at this point is to keep trying to get her to try things. Do not force it. If she turns her head just call it a day and try later on. Maybe the smell of bananas is not something she likes...try applesauce baby food instead.
