Hi ladies its my first time here. I'm in need of some help. I have an 8 month old who sleeps throughout the night however my mil insists I wake him up to feed him ... What should I do?

Thanks dove. I will continue with my way of letting him sleep all night. Usually he wakes up and taps me when he wakes before me. Once he does that I know he wants his feed. I don't see why I must disturb him.

If baby sleeps through the night... let baby sleep. The only time I would consider waking a child at night to feed is if... 1) it was doctor recommended as it was for my newborn twins until they were both over 5 pounds... or 2) I knew my child was not yet sleeping through the night and would wake to nurse anyway... but I was awake before they were (yep, I did that one quite a few times).

Don't listen to your mil. A 8 month old does not need to be fed in the middle of the night. If he was hungry he would be waking to eat. It is very important to feed only when hungry. Waking a baby just to feed them sets them up for eating issues down the road. A healthy baby that is 8 months old should be doing just what your baby is doing and does not need more feedings.
