Feeding Issues with my 10 Month Old & Nervous First Time Mommy

Hello ladies! I'm a first time mommy- so I tend to worry about lots of things ;) so I'm looking to see if anyone else has had a similar experience with their baby. I have a son who just turned 10 months. He has never been a very mouthy baby and isn't one to put everything in his mouth. We started solids at 6 months and he's still just eating the puréed stuff. He never seems enthusiastic about food- in fact I'm pretty sure I could stop feeding him solids at this point and he wouldn't miss it. But he doesn't throw a fit either. He only recently has gotten two teeth on the bottom so he does chew on things more now. I have tried giving him those cereal puffs, yogurt melts, teething cookies, chopped up peices of fruit...but he only plays with them and never puts them in his mouth. If I try to put it in his mouth he goes tight lipped and turns away. He has a great pincher grasp so I know he has the ability to self feed. I try to make meals times fun- but sometimes I get tired of feeling like I have to put on a circus to get him to open his mouth. I have also tried eating in front of him so he can see- but that hasn't helped either. I get discouraged when I see other babies his age enjoying food and self feeding. People have even made comments-not in a rude way- about how it's funny he won't put food in his mouth. Have any of you experienced this with your little one? If so, what did you try and how did it turn out? Thanks from a nervous first time mommy :)

Breast milk or formula on demand still has all his body really needs... so stop worrying.

If you have to turn mealtime into a circus to get him to open his mouth... he's not really interested in eating just yet. Go ahead and keep offering him finger foods once or twice a day while you sit and eat your meal w/ him... and let him be in charge of what he eats and when. He'll get there.
