Feel like I'm constantly yelling at my 5yo

My daughter is definitely pushing her independence boundaries these days. I am constantly yelling & she (sometimes) yells or pushes back. I don't feel like she's out of control, just a normal phase she's going through but I am ALWAYS yelling. She even told me today that she was going to "cut me out of the family picture because all I do is yell" :( :( :( I don't know how to correct her without sounding like I am scolding her or raising my voice. HELP!

Stop yelling. Yelling doesn't help and can in fact make it worse. I have found that my much quieter, calmer self yields far more results than yelling. It is in the tone of voice and the WAY you say it that you can avoid the yelling back. And if she DOES yell at you, don't escalate it, remain calm and let her know she needs to calm down if she wants you to listen. Don't allow her to engage you in a yelling match.
