How would you describe the feeling of your unborn baby kicking you?

I always thought it felt like a little fish swimming around when I felt the first movements. (Not that I ever had a fish in my hand like that, but that's how I pictured it) Then those first soft movements become little "bumps" (again, imagine a little fish bumping against the glass of a tank) and then it's no kidding kicks to the point of them hurting, depending on, where baby kicks.LOL
I miss those feelings a lot!

when she first started it was a flutter, and in the end, it became a very obvious kick. Cant really think of another way to describe it. The flutters were pretty obvious though, I knew it was her because being pregnant, even early on, you can always feel them sitting there. I couldnt tell exactly how she was sitting till I was probobly 8 mos pregnant and it was obvious when her head was in my ribs, or it it was her feet. The best feeling in the world! If I could afford it, I would be pregnant till God decided I was done. I miss it! Cant wait till we can do it again!

Quoting Skye:

It feels like gas bubbles when you first start feeling it, as the baby gets bigger you will feel a kick here and a jab there and then after a while you will learn which is a hand and a foot. How far along are you? I am 21 weeks with my second and I started feeling the baby at my 16th week. With my first one I didnt start feeling the baby until about 20 weeks.

I'm 22 weeks along today. This is my second pregnancy. but with my  first pregnancy,  my son was breeched so he never kicked me that much. and I never really knew what it felt like. But this time  all i feel is like these twitches in my tummy all the time. when i was around 16 weeks i thought it was just gas. but now getting more into my pregnancy I know its the kicking. and boy does she kick a lot. lol

Muscle spasms. Mine is getting more active these days (19 weeks) so I know it's not just a random twitch. :)

It felt like someone flicking me from inside. But at first around 4 months, I felt little flutters of movement just below my bellybutton. I thought it was nerves at first until I read about it in one of the volumes of books I had. It kind of started to hurt when my daughter would drag her knees and elbows across me towards the end, though. But it was reassuring to feel and know she was ok. (I was completely paranoid I had somehow managed to not take care of her like I should. I didn't find out I was pregnant until almost 2 months in.)

It feels like a fart but inside your belly. lol it's more wonderful than anyone can describe (especially me) you will know when you feel it. my son was breech the last two mths so he kicked my butt ALL THE TIME. That felt more odd than wonderful.

Awwww....now you guys are all making me miss feeling my baby moving around in there. Mine was definitely like a flutter or a tickle. Then the little thumps and kicks, which always tickled the hell out of me. Then, the bigger "ouch, kid..that was my cervix!" kicks. And then finally, the large feeling of everything shifting inside, when the baby can move around more.

First of all it is exciting... I am on the last day of my third pregnancy (being induced at 6 in the morning). With all of them at first it felt like air bubbles in my stomach and then little bumps or maybe a ball rolling around in my tummy would better describe it. Then as they got bigger it felt like little punches or kicks from the inside and by the end it hurts when they move some of the time.... It is one of the best feelings in the world though and being this is my last pregnancy I am going to miss it very much!!!!!

Butterflies. Always felt the flutter in the same spot, about the same time of the day or night.

Hehe, I have 2 kids and I will never forget that feeling. It does feel like gas, and little flutters. I started feeling it, and I was like oh its just gas..and then i was feeling it all the time..and I was like that has to be the baby moving. It made me giggle!

It's gonna feel almost like gas. Or, I used to describe it as what it would feel like to be inside a glass of fizzy water.

Wow. It's been 6 years, but I'll never forget the first time I felt Michael move. It was a fluttering - the best way I can describe it is like butterfly wings. As the baby gets bigger, they turn into bumps, and then finally into pushes! That was something I always loved - feeling him kick and turn around - it makes it seem all the more real that there is a little person in there! :-)
