just feeling stressed out and helpless. there is a lot of background, but right now my fiance's ex is refusing to bring their son over on his days to be here. i do not know why or much else since by fiance is at work. i know i can not step on toes and get in the middle of this. i just feel so sorry for my fiance and his son who needs his father. this stuff is constantly happening. i do not have any friends who are stepmothers, so no one can truly relate or give me advice. i would really like to get some advice on how to handle stuff like this as it is happening on a weekly basis. the child is confused and so am i.

What state do you live in? My husband and I are dealing with the same exact sort of exhausting drama and have been for over a year now. I would love to have someone to talk to about it as well if you are interested.

thank you for your concern, as that is my main worry as well. we also hear not great things about what goes on at her place... so this is very unsettling as is the whole situation. but we will try and talk to a lawyer soon...

He may need to get a new court order, or he may be able to enforce the arrangement he has. Have a talk to him about discussing the options with a lawyer. What she is doing is morally wrong, and I feel for the poor child, but legally, she may be able to get away with it.

If it is filed with the court, it is something she is required to follow, but as I said, it depends on the wording. If there is anything in there about dropping off to "him" it could be interpreted to read that if he isn't home she isn't obligated to do so.

i am not exactly sure.. i know they have their custody as a court order and they made the contract themselves, but sent it to the court for the file or whatever... do you have any insight into this?

Is this a court ordered arrangement? if it is, your ex could file contempt, but it depends on the wording of the court order.

they have a contract and that is for 5pm for her to bring the child here... the ex is very hard to get in touch with and brings the child to her mother's while she is at work and it is impossible to get in touch with them.. we have given the child our numbers several times and told him he can come stay with us more or to call us, but i do not think she lets him

So if dad works nights....why can't he collect him during the day sometime?

Why can't dad go and collect the child on those days? Or am I misinterpreting your post? Is she outright refusing any and all access, or is she just refusing to bring him over?
