I can't figure out her schedule. My ideal goal is for her to wake up at 7am and go to bed at 8pm, but from her last nap the longer she can stay awake without getting fussy crying is 3 1/2 hrs. Help please! She's 8 months.

You could try to get her to take three naps; one hour at 10am, 1.5 to 2 hours at 1:30 and a short one around 5. The tricky thing is baby can get cranky when you start shifting around her schedule.

Is she taking two or three naps? At this age baby rises, eats and plays and should take a 60-90 minute nap around 10:30 or 11, then up eat, play and second nap for 2 to 2.5 hours at 2. So if baby rises at 4 or 4:30 and is cranky by 7 or 730, can you just put her down for the night? Probably in the next month or two you can stretch her until 8.

Yes, some kids just need more sleep during the day than others. My one of kids dropped napping completely at 2 1/2, which was a drag! but he slept from 6 to 6 at night.
Trust yourself, you'll know when she is ready to drop that late nap when she starts staying up a little later. If she is rubbing her eyes, yawning or even rubbing her earos or nose, she is tired..so let her sleep. She might start dropping that late nap on an every other day basis at first and then all together.

She was taking 3 naps, but family members were constantly telling me how she was napping too much and by 8-9 months I just move her to 2 naps. Considering it came from a mom of two kids I thought id take the advice. Ugh! Totally regret it. Now her schedule is super messed up! But you're right lady's I should keep her on 3 naps. Until she's ready, but my question now is when do I know she's ready for 2 naps?? Will she ever stay awake longer than 3 hours!
