First "friend" birthday party

My son, Lincoln, will be 4 on the 22nd of this month and will be having his first friend birthday party. We are having it at our house and we don't have a lot of space. The friends we'll be inviting are from his preschool and the parent's don't know me. I'm especially concerned at this point with how to invite his friends but nicely not invite siblings as I am sure many of the parents will want to come with their kids to a "stranger's" house. Also any fun activities, food ideas (in addition to cake), themes, etc. Any suggestions to help make it a success would be appreciated.

Well what characters does he like? I would base my theme on that. As far as siblings some moms may not have a choice.

You could have a scavenger hunt game with prizes. I always give prizes to anyone anyways. Is it cold where you are? I always had my daughters at a messy clean up. Indoor activities can also be pin the tail on whatever the theme is. Only invite 4-5 people if you don't have a lot of space. Have pizza (easiest). Maybe some sort of pasta. Good luck.

April, do you intend on sending Birthday announcements, call the parents or what? I'd suggest letting parents know how many children you are inviting and letting them know you can't have anymore children then that because you don't have a lot of space.

What Katherine suggested are great ideas. I make up mini hamburgers, stuffed celery sticks, party cups filled with trail mix, mini pizza rolls and/or dogs on a stick.

Treasure hunt, musical chairs and again what Katherine suggested. Have someone dress up as the character.
