Hello ladies. I'm 38 weeks with my first baby and am wondering if how I've been feeling lately are early signs that labor is coming soon or just wishful thinking. I've been having pelvic pain where it feels like it's loosening and hurts any time I move or sit/ stand too long. The baby has also dropped and ir sometimes feels like his head is rubbing my pelvis bones when I walk, and feels like he's about to pop on out! I've also been having more frequent trips to the bathroom for both 1 & 2, and get nauseas throughout the day which has made me skimp on eating. I've also been told the cramps with back ache I'm getting are contractions, which sometimes travel into my thighs. I'm 38 weeks and was still all closed up at last appointment four days ago and haven't noticed the loss of my mucous plug yet. I've been having these symptoms for two weeks now, so I'm wondering if I'm really having contractions & just not dilating? If so, how much longer will this last before the real thing?

Forgot to ask as well, can contractions fluctuate in intensity for several minutes at a time when one starts? I've read that they start really short then get longer as labor progresses, but these crampy pains I get will last about 5-10 minutes at a time before I can relax. Its like waves of discomfort for 5-10 minutes, then nothing for 15 minutes to an hour before another wave.
