I need to know I am pregnant my baby's due in 3 months. The father has not been in its life at all. Do I need to file for sole custody. And how hard do you think you'll be to get sole custody.

Many states will recognize you as the sole custodian of a newborn if you are unwed. However, even if this is the case in your state, please take the time to get a custody order from a judge.

Totally understandable, but there may come a time when he does want to be involved, and you need to be prepared. The best thing is to establish everything up front, legally, so that both of you can be protected, and the baby, once he/she gets here!

Thanks to all that wrote on this. I'm not saying that I dont want the father in the baby's life. There has just been alot that I found out in the last 6 months. This men that I planned on marrying said he had no kids. I found out he had 3 kids. With a lady that ever time they were together they made a baby. I just can't trust a men that lies to me. I dont want to loss my child just because I chose not to be with him anymore

Short answer: You need to have paternity established, and file for custody. You do not have the authority to make the decision on your own.
