I think fish is perfectly fine the kids to eat or are you talking about pets as pets you should just tell them to feed a couple flakes every day or if you do the Cupid meals for the fish just tell him to defrost them in water into given to them every day either way I see no problem

We got my 3 year old a betta (or Siamese fighting fish). It worked out great. She loves to use marker on the outside of his tank and he will follow her marker as she draws (really cute to watch)

Bettas are hard to kill. You can forget to feed them and they are fine. So that works out well for kids. The only issue is you can only have one and they need at least 5 gallons. yes I know they sell half gallon tanks for them but you would need to change the water every day in that case. We have a 10 gallon tank. Once properly cycled it only needs a 10% water change once a month.

If you have younger children just make sure the tank has a cover. My youngest thought it was hilarious to throw things into the tank. This meant I had to keep cleaning water out because of it.

Remember as the responsible parent you need to know all that needs to be dome and prepared to do it all for a pet that will be your kids.
You can tell them to feed them a few flakes but they you have to watch them feed them, When they over feed you have to get the flakes out so you don't have to redo the water. plus cleaning the filter etc.
Have fun with it though.

Fish for your kids or fish AS your kids? lol Either way is fine... though kind of awkward if the fish ARE your kids. ;)

LOL...well, I had to ask!

Tetra's are great, btw, so pretty...A good way to teach responsibility and routine is to have a pet, whether it be scaly, furry, or feathered!

My only caution as a meal would be to watch the mercury level of the fish in question...since its a naturally occurring mineral.

Good luck with the fish!

As pets, or as a meal?

Either way, I don't see a problem
