My son is 6 weeks old when he was 4 weeks old we had to rush him to the ER in the middle of the night because he had turned blue while laying flat in his bassinet. They suctioned out his air way and told me to come back into see the pediatrician first thing in the morning. The next morning we fed him while we were in the office and the Doctor noticed a wheezing sound while he ate and told us he thought he had a flap on his soft palate. They also started him on medicine for reflux today when I took him in I fed him in the office again the wheezing is worse and is accompanied by gulping and gasping. They are sending us to see a specialist next week but I wanted to do some research on this because the Ped told it this is a farly common condition I'm not worried because we were told he'd out grow it as well as being told not to lay him flat but I cannot find any info online so I'm wondering if anyone else has ever heard of this and knows where I can find info about what kind of therapy the specialist will do with my little one. (the doctor mentioned therapy might be an option)

it's called Laryngomalacia (literally, "soft larynx") is a very common condition of infancy, in which the soft, immature cartilage of the upper larynx collapses inward during inhalation, causing airway obstruction. It can also be seen in older patients, especially those with neuromuscular conditions resulting in weakness of the muscles of the throat. However, the infantile form is much more common.

I've never heard of it......have you researched it online, or gone to your library?
