Hello Experience Moms,

Please help us understand how can we protect our kid on hardwood floor. I am always scared of him hitting his head to the floor.

Thanks!

First of all, wood is pretty soft. High quality stages and dance studios often have wood floors because it's easier on the dancers than other types of flooring.

Second of all, it's shocking when a baby falls, but keep in mind that they don't weigh much and they aren't falling far. Bumps and bruises while kids are learning to sit or walk or crawl are normal.

You can try covering areas that your baby uses a lot with foam play mats or rugs, but these can introduce a new risk since kids can trip on the edges or slip if the mat slides.
